Join us on Tuesday, September 30, 2008 from 7:30 – 9:15 AM at the Clarion Hotel, (formerly the DoubleTree Hotel) 1230 Congress Street, Portland, ME for MEREDA’s Members-Only Legislative Preview Breakfast Seminar.
Sponsored by: Norway Savings Bank
MEREDA is pleased to feature David Littell, Commissioner of the Department of Environmental Protection and Representative Jane Eberle, member of the Natural Resources Committee and the Inland Fisheries & Wildlife Committee. Commissioner Littell will discuss his thoughts regarding the environmental and land use issues of interest and concern to MEREDA members that are on the horizon for 2009. Representative Eberle will discuss a variety of legislative issues, the legislative process, and how MEREDA can become more involved.
In 2007, over 1,900 legislative bills were introduced during the 1st Session of the 123rd Legislature. We expect 2009 to see as many, if not more legislative proposals ranging from land use and environmental regulation issues, landlord/tenant issues, and invasive species.
Though the Legislature has adjourned, and candidates are busily campaigning for election to the 124th Legislature, many stakeholder groups, Task Forces, commissions and agencies have been active throughout the summer and fall working on a variety of interim studies and reports, all of which will be introduced during the 2009 Legislative session.
Please join Commissioner David Littell and Representative Jane Eberle as they preview and provide their thoughts on legislative issues that will be of interest to members of the real estate development industry.
