Maine Development Foundation
The Maine Development Foundation (MDF) drives sustainable, long-term economic growth for Maine. MDF stimulates new ideas, develops leaders, and provides common ground for solving problems and advancing issues.

Additional information from MDF as of Feb 2022:

The Affordable Homeownership Program provides homebuilders a $60,000 forgivable loan per unit if they build five houses or more. In rural counties, the unit prices are capped at $275,000 and income restrictions on buyers are limited to 120% of median family income. (For context, in Millinocket that’s $71,040).

Last Fall, the Maine Development Foundation commissioned housing studies including pro formas in small towns we service. The work was funded by the US EDA. Each of these housing studies may include eligible developments for the Affordable Homeownership Program.
