Join MEREDA on Thursday, April 9, 2009 from 7:30 – 9:00 AM at the Clarion Hotel, 1230 Congress Street, Portland, ME as our panelists Peter Van Hemel, Robert Crawford and Amanda Meader from Bernstein Shur discuss transactional trends and siting concerns in the development and location of communications technology towers and small wind power infrastructure.

Mobile communications technology continues to expand its reach geographically, increase its sophistication and capacity, and respond to innovation and technological evolution.  With growth and change comes an increasing and ever-shifting need for sites to serve as the location of infrastructure.  Tower operators continue to increase density and plan for new technology or for higher saturation of existing technology in response to increased demand and performance of mobile communications equipment.  This presentation will advise landowners on emerging strategies of tower development and will touch briefly on the scope of local, state and federal compliance issues presented by the location of these highly regulated structures on real estate.

The program will also address emerging issues in the location of small scale and/or “micro” wind power infrastructure and the relevant concerns for landowners and developers evaluating the potential for wind power development.
